I went to see Friday Road Show and the Ghibli Exhibition: Oita Edition. – Oita”
The exhibition, “Friday Road Show and the Ghibli Exhibition,” is currently on at the Oita Prefectural Art Museum (OPAM), running from Saturday, January 17.
This nationwide touring exhibition showcases the shared history and enduring appeal of the Japanese TV program Friday Road Show and the works of Studio Ghibli. The exhibition offers an enjoyable experience not only for fans of Friday Road Show and Studio Ghibli films, but also for visitors of all ages—from young children to adults.
The exhibition occupies the entire first-floor gallery space. Visitors can view original storyboards created for Studio Ghibli films while reflecting on the year each film was broadcast on Friday Road Show, moving through a series of areas filled with nostalgia, surprises, and new discoveries.
One highlight is the “Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind” AR experience zone, sponsored by au (KDDI). Using a remote camera system, visitors can take photos as if they were standing alongside an Ohmu.
In addition, there are movie poster studio areas featuring beloved Ghibli films such as Kiki’s Delivery Service, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, The Cat Returns, and The Secret World of Arrietty, where visitors can pose as the characters and enjoy taking photos.
There is also a special giveaway campaign:
Visitors who take a photo of the designated panel located inside the ticket gates at JR Oita Station and present it together with their ticket reservation confirmation screen at the OPAM information desk will receive an original clear file.
Limited to the first 25,000 visitors; offer ends while supplies last.
Don’t miss this highly anticipated exhibition—be sure to stop by!
