Sarutobi Sentsubo Gorge is a stunning natural wonder that showcases the mysteries of nature. Its most distinctive feature is the countless circular holes of various sizes that are spread across the gorge floor, extending for approximately 2 kilometers. These circular formations were created over time via erosion through the interplay of three natural factors: the mountain stream of the Yamakuni River, the rocky riverbed, and small stones. The gorge is designated as a National Natural Monument. In spring, visitors can enjoy the beauty of cherry blossoms and fresh greenery, while in autumn, the vibrant fall foliage creates spectacular views. A stroll along the river offers even more scenic delights, such as the downstream Marinkyo Gorge and the arch-shaped stone bridge, Nenbutsu-bashi, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the area.
