Jion Falls, located on the western border of Hita City's Amagase Town and Kusu District's Kusu Town, is a waterfall brimming with romance and legend – stories of a great serpent and dragon gods lend a mythical charm to its name. This majestic, two-tiered waterfall spans a total height of 30 meters, with an upper drop of 20 meters and a lower drop of 10 meters. Its powerful flow is truly awe-inspiring.

The upper falls are surrounded by steep cliffs, offering a breathtaking view directly from the front. The lower falls allow visitors to venture behind the cascading water. According to legend, walking around the falls clockwise brings good fortune, so be sure to follow this tradition when visiting.

The falls are said to have a cooling effect that feels like the temperature has dropped by 5 degrees, making it a popular summer destination for those seeking relief from the heat. At night, the illuminated falls create a mystical atmosphere, offering a completely different experience from daytime.

Note: Due to damage from the heavy rains in July 2020, access to the area behind the falls is currently restricted.
