Bungo Strait Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival
The earliest spring in Kyushu Five thousand Kawazu cherry trees
On the Yura Peninsula in Tsukumi City, more than 5,000 Kawazu cherry trees are planted along local roads, creating beautiful cherry blossom-lined routes throughout the area. The blossoms usually begin to bloom in early February and reach their peak around mid-February.
On clear days, the soft pink of the Kawazu cherry blossoms stands out vividly against the deep blue of the sea and the clear blue sky, creating a truly breathtaking landscape.
During the peak blooming season, the Bungo Channel Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival is held on the Yura Peninsula. Throughout the festival period, food stalls and the local product center offer a variety of cherry blossom–themed items and regional specialties.
(Updated blooming information will be posted on the Tsukumi City Tourism Association website during the festival.)
